Squadron (Ron) 27 patch

Ron 27

Each of the PT Boat Squadrons (Rons) had their own distinctive insignia patch.  This was the patch of Ron 27, the unit to which Red Stahley and Tom Saffles were assigned in the South Pacific.  Both were radiomen, Red assigned to PT 373 and Tom to PT 359.   It was during their time with Ron 27 that these two young sailors experienced naval combat in ways that would change their lives forever.

    • Joann, there are several PT Patches like you describe with the mosquito on them. There are some shown here to compare to. http://www.ptboats.org/08-0-05store-03-PATCHES.html
