Among boys of my generation, making models of ships and planes was a big deal. Although my skills in this area were rather limited, I could easily lose myself in an effort to assemble a model of a P-47 Republic Thunderbolt fighter plane from WWII or a Sopwith Camel fighter plane from World War I. A few times, I did my best to put together a model of PT 109 but the result was less than great. When I came across this photograph of a PT model, the precision and detail took my breath away. This is a true work of art.
